Dr. Rebecca Bockow
As an orthodontist, the FACE4D philosophy embodies a holistic approach to oral health that goes beyond straightening teeth. It emphasizes the importance of airway health and oral motor function. It helps us create a dental and skeletal framework for proper lip seal, and promotes proper occlusion, periodontal stability, and joint stability. Integrating skeletal expansion for kids and adults (including MARPEs) allows us to optimize the transverse dimension, allowing us to center the teeth in the bone. This creates tongue space, widens the nasal floor, improves the airway space, and creates broad and beautiful smiles. By integrating these elements, we as clinicians can enhance both the function and the aesthetics for our patients, contributing to their overall wellness and longevity. FACE4D’s interdisciplinary approach aligns with my commitment to achieving not only beautiful smiles, but also long-lasting healthy outcomes for my patients.

Dr. David Sarver
Dr. Sarver received his DMD from The University of Alabama School of Dentistry and M.S. in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina in 1979. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, a Fellow in both the International and American Colleges of Dentists and a Fellow in the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Sarver’s book, "Esthetics in Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery" was published in September 1998. He is also co-author (with Drs. Proffit and White) of the surgical text “Contemporary Treatment of Dentofacial Deformity,” and is co-author of the 4th, 5th, and 6th editions of Proffit’s classic textbook “Contemporary Orthodontics”. His newest book “Dentofacial Esthetics: from Macro to Micro” was published in May 2020. He has given more than 400 professional presentations in the United States, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and East Asia.

The FACE4D philosophy is above all the desire to bring all medical specialties together. Over the years dentistry has shifted away from the medical profession and has become increasingly isolated. Behind every set of teeth is an entire stomatognathic system that deserves attention but has been neglected. In segregating from the medical field, the dental industry has overlooked many important areas of the system such as airway, muscles, joints, ligaments, skin, and the cervical column. FACE4D aspires to bring dentistry back to the medical field by partnering specialists from both fields to give our patients much more than just aligning teeth.

Interdisciplinary Dentistry has been a complex concept since its popularization in the 1980s. Only a few teams have successfully implemented it due to the challenges of effectively collaborating across diverse specialized knowledge and techniques. Comprehensive philosophies, such as "Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Therapy" (IDT), developed nearly 38 years ago, have helped address many of these challenges. Since then, numerous exciting and transformative advancements have significantly evolved interdisciplinary therapy. Today, dental teams are increasingly partnering with their medical counterparts, focusing on airway health to enhance the quality and quantity of patients' lives. Individual team members are becoming digitally empowered, improving diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Mark Maier
Mark is the CEO of the Aurum Group of Companies. Prior to joining Aurum in 2004, living in Germany, the UK, and the US, Mark developed a career in various positions in investment banking, money management, and venture capital. Mark has a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario (1991), an M.B.A. from Schiller International University in Heidelberg (1993) and an M.Sc. in Finance from the ISMA Center in Reading, U.K. (1996). He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation (2001).
